Daily Escapements & Goals
- Escapement are used to determine the health of the fishery. Escapement simply means the number of fish that are able to spawn
- Many of Alaska’s most popular rivers and salmon species have annual escapement goals.
- When the minimum, optimum, and maximum escapement goals have been reached limits are often raised by Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
- Conversely, when runs are particularly weak and it doesn’t appear as if escapement goals will be met, fisheries often have limits reduced or restricted
- 8 years of historical escapements are available, along with minimum and maximum escapement targets, along with a running 3 year average
